Rooted in the 1970’s, ‘Assisting Fate’ is the follow up to Say Goodbye and the second book in the Walker-Powell trilogy. This story delves deeper into Lee Walker's world, a character whose life is forever altered by a fateful decision. As the plot unfolds, we witness the aftermath of Lee's bold choice, which sets into motion a series of catastrophic events. At the heart of the narrative is Lee's grandmother, Nancy, a former director of MI6 whose shadowy past comes back to haunt her in unexpected ways. Despite her formidable reputation, Nancy finds herself ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse, where the stakes are higher than ever before. Great sequel

Read the first book in 2 days, had to get the second one. Finished this one overnight.
The emotional plight isn't there, but the tension gets better.

Good Book

I really liked the main charactershes tough but also shows her softer side, which made her feel real. The emotional parts about family and sacrifice were powerful, and there was plenty of suspense to keep me reading. I thought the soundtrack idea was really good and made the story feel even more alive.

A Truly Unique Reading Experience!

A great sequel to the first book 'Say Goodbye' and a unique reading experience with quality writing from the author! Nancy's character was portrayed very well to the point where you feel really invested in her and I particularly enjoyed how her past and present intertwine as it adds an extra layer of suspense which the book plays to very well. I would highly recommend this book and the 1st in the series to all lovers of action, thrill and suspense.

A Dark and Intriguing Sequel That Raises the Stakes

Assisting Fate is a gripping follow-up to Say Goodbye, continuing Lee Walkers journey in an intense and unexpected direction. Picking up right where the first book left off, this installment takes a deeper dive into Lees transformation and the web of secrets, espionage, and manipulation that surrounds him. His journey from an abandoned child to someone entangled in high-stakes intelligence work is both compelling and unpredictable.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was its character development. Lee is no longer just a runawayhes evolving into something much more complex. The way the story weaves together personal betrayal, government intrigue, and emotional turmoil keeps you hooked. The writing style is sharp, and the pacing keeps you engaged, although at times, the amount of detail can slow things down a bit.

Im giving this book 4 out of 5 stars because while the storytelling is immersive, some parts felt overly drawn out, and a few side plots seemed to pull attention away from the main narrative. However, if you loved Say Goodbye, this sequel delivers even more depth, mystery, and suspense. Definitely worth the read if you enjoy character-driven thrillers with a touch of espionage.
